RESCUE

Our Club helps re-home Cavaliers who are in need of finding new owners.  Dogs come to us from many sources.  Sometimes the owners are moving and cannot take their pet with them.  Some owners have developed allergies and can no longer have a dog in the house.  Some are strays that have been abandoned by their previous owners.   Our rescues have ranged in age from less than a year to older dogs of 8 to 10 years.

Sadly we are not able to accept dogs with aggression issues, although Cavaliers are usually such gentle creatures that happily we have never had to turn away a dog for this reason.  However, we do have to turn away cross-bred Cavaliers, as our responsibility can only be to purebred dogs.

As part of our rescue department we have a group of enthusiastic foster families who will care for a dog in their home until a new permanent home is found.   We are always looking for good homes for our rescue dogs.  We need people who are able to devote themselves to helping the dog through what must be a very difficult transition.

It is not always easy to take in a rescue dog.

Each dog that comes into our rescue is immediately examined by a veterinarian and, if necessary, undergoes such services as teeth cleaning, worming, etc.  Occasionally more work has to be done on a neglected dog.  In order to cover these expenses, which can sometimes be quite high, the Club has established a scale of fees that we charge for a rescue dog, and this depends on the dog's age.

Up to 2 years of age $300  /  2-7 years of age $250  /  7 years & older …$200
